It is said that mimicking is the greatest form of flattery and while that might be true on a much lesser extent, such behavior is more telling about the one exercising it than the one receiving it. It’s in fact a statement of confession of what happens when jealousy fueled by insecurity and low self-worth kicks in and manifests outwardly.

Authenticity comes from embracing your own identity, not that of another’s. It comes from sourcing from within yourself. Mimicking is not inspiration, it’s plagiarism to conceal a void of where authenticity and true identity should reside. It is a form of coveting and siphoning of someone else’s energy.

Social media is filled with such individuals looking to establish themselves to feel validated and significant. They speak with authority, but lack credentials and often find themselves in the throws of hypocrisy. This is an inner child wound that has remained unhealed. We are all gifted with the tool of discernment and it is important to use it to sift through performance vs authenticity.
