Imagine you are sitting in density or in darkness and there is a lighted being standing across from you. You see the light and yet you don’t reach for the light. Your heart, your yearning is to reach for the light, but you do not. You feel guilt and shame for what you did and who you became, and so you run and hide and stay in the darkness…because the darkness is comfortable, it’s what you know, what you’re used to, what you can handle. Yet you are miserable and in a never-ending loop of internal conflict. And your shame says “I am bad” and your guilt says “I did bad things.” So, you continue to walk in the darkness weighted down by your own self-condemnation, yet you never take your eyes off the light there in the distance, just out of your perceived reach never realizing that these two feelings are keeping you from the light. This is where self-forgiveness and the other four fundamental components of self-love come in.
Through self-love you come back home to yourself, the more you practice these principles the more you will reach and integrate your darkness into the light, until you come to know that you too, are the light, but you were too shrouded in your own darkness to notice.
Enough. It’s time to come home.
